CHILD WARNING OVER MOBILE PHONES

In this article, the author deals with the issue of children and moblie phones. Sir William Stewart states that even though there are no real proof that mobile phones are unsafe, it is suggested that care should still be taken when using them. Sir William even suggests that they should only be used in the cases of emergency. From the article, it is evident that he is quite passionate about this topic. The introduction of a mobile phone, designed for 4-8 year olds, for use in emergencies, caused fury and after it was released for purchase, the company But in a statement, the UK distributor Communic8 insisted that even though the product is encouraged to be used under the supervision of adults, they couldn't confirm that there were no health risks associated with its usage. According to the statistics, one in four seven to ten year olds own a mobile phone. Sir William also expressed his feelings about mobile phone masts being located near schools. The article also talks about a study which took part in Sweden. This study found that using a mobile phone for 10 years or more increases the chance of developing ear tumours by 25%. These statistics are absolutely staggering. The article then closes with the thought that parents should consider all the positive and negative outcomes that may occur with the purchase of a mobile phone.

  1. This is an ongoing debate and it is hard to choose a particular side but i do feel that it is a controversial issue when it comes to children and technology.

  3. I don't agree at all with young children having mobile phones. Why would a 4 year old even need a mobile for emergencies,as they're always with an adult anyway. It's just not right especially if there's a chance it can be damaging to a childs health.
